As promised at the November meeting, we have been actively trying to resolve the glitch with the Wreaths Across America organization where the St. Remy cemetery had been dropped from their location list. This has been done, and we were able to secure at least two dozen wreaths for the ceremony. So while it won't be as big and glorious as it has been in the past, we're still going to do a little ceremony this year, and you have my apologies for how short notice this is.
Regrettably, Pack 103 has decided out of an abundance of caution to cancel our Annual Wreaths Across America ceremony scheduled for Saturday, December 19 at 12 pm. at St. Remy Cemetery.
Scouting families, please join us to celebrate our Webelos 2 scouts bridging to Boy Scouts and receiving their Arrow of Light award. To be followed by our Pot Luck Blue & Gold Banquet and annual Cake Bake Auction. Please make a cake with your scout (themed "Cub Scouting") for a fundraising auction, proceeds to benefit the Pack. Rules below/attached.
We've only heard from about 15 of 28 families, please ensure you RSVP for the Blue and Gold Banquet to Keisha by the end of the day **this Saturday 2/10**. Starting Sunday we will begin purchasing supplies for the event, so an accurate headcount is essential. New families of Pack 103 (those who have joined since Mid-January), you and your families are more than welcome to attend as well. Please contact Keisha at pack103kingston@gmail.com or (845) 802-4829 to RSVP.
For the new families, the Blue and Gold banquet is our monthly Pack meeting for February. It begins at 3:30pm on Saturday 2/24 at the church. The event starts in the sanctuary with advancement/awards/recognition followed by wishing our 5th grade Webelos 2 scouts adieu as they leave the Cub Scout Pack and join a Boy Scout Troop. This is followed by a pot-luck dinner (check with your den leaders for what type of food to bring) and a cake auction. We ask each family bring a cake they have made with their Scout, to auction off as a fundraiser for the pack (rules are below), set to the theme of "Out of this World". This is a unique, but fun annual event for the Pack which takes place in February to celebrate the Birthday of America's Scouting movement (which happens to have begun exactly 108 years ago today!).
Den leaders, please plan to have your dens present a skit, song, or similar during dinner.
Spring Trip balance due: The balance for the spring trip is due at Monday's den meetings (2/12). This trip is still open to new families to 103, as there are still a few spots available, please sign up and pay Monday if possible. The trip is 3/24-25. The final cost is $45/scout and $35/family member (less the deposit you paid last month to hold your spot). It is an overnight at the DaVinci Science center in Allentown, Pa. The overnight program will introduce scouts to a world where magic and science meet. They will discover the link between science and magic as they experiment with troll boogers (glow in the dark slime), frozen dragon's breath (dry ice) and building castles to protect from invading dragons. We are meeting there at 6pm, feel free to coordinate carpooling with other families as the Pack is not providing group transportation. Sunday morning, the overnight program typically would end around 9, and you and your family would be granted admission to the museum for the remainder of the day.
Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.
Thanks and best regards,
C.T.
