Summer Camp Information Meeting - Monday June 17th @ Loughran Park Pavilion

Posted on Jun 14 2019 - 8:23am
Only for those who are registered for summer camp at Camp Kingsley, there will be an important pre-summer camp planning meeting on Monday, June 17th at 6:30 pm at the Loughran Park Pavilion. At the meeting on the 17th we will go over what to pack, where to meet and what time, and a sample schedule for activities that will take place during our time at Camp Kingsley. This meeting is a great opportunity as well for families to share ideas, resources, and tips.
If you happen to have them completed already, we will collect the camp physical forms (3 copies please, you keep the originals) and paperwork for all adults and scouts at this time.
If you don't have the forms completed yet, no worries. Please still attend this meeting! I just need to have them in hand at least a few days prior to our arrival at camp on July 17th. All adults and scouts attending camp must have completed medical paperwork in advance of us attending camp this summer. I have attached the digital versions of the paperwork to this post. If you need a hard copy of these forms, please contact me and I will make sure you have a set prior to the meeting.
If you are an adult planning on attending camp you must be a registered leader. Parents who are attending with their children need to get to me (or Stephanie) a completed adult application form, your Youth Protection Training certificate (https://www.scouting.org/training/youth-protection/), and your $33 registration fee.
Thanks! Please send any questions in advance if you have them.

June Picnic and AOL Crossover

Posted on May 30 2019 - 11:23pm

Hi Everyone,
It's that time - the end of the program year!   It's hard to believe how fast this scouting year has gone - in just about a week all our scouts will be crossing over into their next rank den.  To celebrate the year, we invite everyone to join us to Robert Post Park in the town of Ulster for our picnic and crossover ceremony on Saturday, June 8th.   We'll begin at Noon - the scouts can enjoy the playground while the Cubmasters cook, and around 2 we'll begin our ceremony.   This year's picnic will be a bit unique as we'll also be crossing our Webelos 2 scouts into the new "Scouts, BSA" program!  To help, we ask if everyone could RSVP with headcount and bring a dish to share.   You can sign up here:

Dens 1 and 6 (tigers and wolves) meeting Tuesday this week

Posted on Apr 13 2019 - 6:01am

The Tigers and wolves will be meeting Tuesday this week at the rail trail in Hurley. Watch your email for location and time information. The Tigers will be working on a biking achievement, the Wolves will be hiking. For the Wolves anybody that doesn't have their wolf rank, it's important that they try to be here, otherwise the hiking requirement may need to become homework.

For our Religious Scouts, especially Catholic

Posted on Apr 3 2019 - 11:25am

Hi everyone,

As you all know, there is a 'Duty to God' element in every rank.  For anyone looking to take the Duty to God a step further (*This is not required!*), I'd encourage you to look into working with your scout on earning the Religious Award for your religion.  This is a purple knot your scout can wear on their uniform for the rest of their scouting career; most religions also present the scout with a medal as well.  Some religions offer multiple religious awards which can be earned at different stages in their religious education (for example, there are two religious awards Cubs can earn for the Catholic faith, one pre-communion one post).  To get started with this visit this website:

This year we will be once again participating in "Global Youth Service Day" on April 11th at 6pm.  GYSD is the largest youth service and civic action event in the world and the only one that celebrates and expands the capacity of all youth ages 5-25 and their communities to thrive by working together for the common good.  (https://leadasap.ysa.org/)
