This year instead of doing a park cleanup or similar, our day of service will be cleaning the grounds of the St. James church. I anticipate it shouldn't take more than an hour of your time, we're just going to be raking any leaves that may have been missed in the fall and cleaning up anything else they'd like done. Anyone that hasn't already earned the Messengers of Peace award should qualify and it will be a great way to give back to our charted organization.
Hi everyone, Just a few bits of information for the upcoming events:
1) Wreaths Across America day is this coming Saturday. The ceremony begins at noon, so we're asking any scouts who can participate to meet us at the St. Remy Cemetery around 11:15. The weather is looking a bit yucky, but this is a rain, snow or shine event! Our veterans' sacrifices know no bounds, so the weather won't hold us back. Please dress appropriately for the weather. Pending the weather - this is a *full* class A uniform event. If uniforms are visible they should be worn properly (tucked in). Please wear uniform hats as well.
Hot chocolate and refreshments will be available.
If anyone coming has an easy-up they could bring, it would be appreciated.
2) Monday's Pack meeting - This will be holiday-themed with a special guest of honor. Scouts/adults are welcome to wear ugly Christmas sweaters or holiday-themed (scout appropriate) apparel. This will be our last meeting this year!
We will be going to Five Rivers Environmental Education Center, located at 56 Game Farm Road, Delmar, NY on Saturday, April 3rd at 2pm.
What we end up doing will kind of depend on the weather. Either way we will be doing a tracking program, where scouts and families will be led by Five Rivers program leaders through their on-site trails, learning about different kinds of animal tracks and trying to locate some ourselves! If there are at least 6 inches of snow on the ground that day, we will also be able to do snowshoeing lessons (although I'm not sure we will have snow then - guess we'll see!). Snow shoes are provided.
Please see the updated family guidebook if you're new to scouting. You can access it on the left hand column of the webpage as "Family Guidebook" or using this link:
