Posted on Apr 16 2021 - 4:11pm

Bears and Webelos - the weather is looking decent to meet outdoors on Monday.   Let's plan to meet at Rotary Park at 6:30pm for a short gathering to burn off some energy and do a little community service.  Bring gloves to clean up some litter :)

Save the date! Year-end Picnic 6/6!

Summer Camp 2021

Posted on Mar 18 2021 - 10:45am

Hi everyone,
I hope you're all doing well, and for the Cubs I hope you're all happy to be getting started again using the packets and looking forward to some in-person meetings/events.   Our first in-person event is the hike at 5 Rivers Mrs. Litts emailed about previously, and will double as a pack meeting with advancement being distributed for those who attend.

For everyone - we are *considering* attending Camp Kingsley this summer as it is the only resident camp for Cub Scouts which will be operating that we know of, without going out of state.  So we're asking that *EVERYONE* complete the following interest survey, even if you are not interested in summer camp:
https://forms.gle/sHNMedwXt5ywqcsi7

Please complete it before the end of next week (3/26) so the pack leadership can discuss the results and commit (or not) to Kingsley by 4/1 (their commitment date), the survey should only take a few moments of your time.

Thanks!

Upcoming trip to Five Rivers Education Center

Posted on Mar 4 2021 - 7:22pm

We will be going to Five Rivers Environmental Education Center, located at 56 Game Farm Road, Delmar, NY on Saturday, April 3rd at 2pm.

What we end up doing will kind of depend on the weather. Either way we will be doing a tracking program, where scouts and families will be led by Five Rivers program leaders through their on-site trails, learning about different kinds of animal tracks and trying to locate some ourselves!
If there are at least 6 inches of snow on the ground that day, we will also be able to do snowshoeing lessons (although I'm not sure we will have snow then - guess we'll see!). Snow shoes are provided.

Is Santa a Scout?

Posted on Dec 17 2020 - 4:45pm

Is Santa a Scout? One just needs to examine how he stacks up against the scout law:

Trustworthy – You certainly can trust that Santa will show up every year.

Loyal – He’s very dedicated to his craft and his mission. Imagine the disappointment if he wasn’t loyal to his work.

Helpful – He saves many a dad from last-minute shopping. Dads are notorious for leaving things to the last minute. Just ask mom.

Friendly- How many adults would let a zillion kids sit on their lap and listen to what they want and smile doing it?

Courteous – He always says thanks for the 62 billion calories he gets in milk and cookies each year.

Kind – Delivering gifts to children is a great act of kindness.

Obedient – I emailed Mrs. Clause on this one. No reply, but saying he’s been married for all those years, I’m going to bet he does what she tells him.

Cheerful – Ho, Ho, Ho! Need I say more?

Thrifty – Santa makes his own toys. That saves a bundle on shipping alone.

Brave – Would you get in a magic sleigh pulled by reindeer and fly? Me neither.

Clean – I’m not sure how he does it, but that red suit looks great even after the millionth chimney.

Reverent – Santa does his thing on a special night as part of a very religious holiday.

So, is Santa Claus a Scout? For sure. This time of year no matter what holiday you celebrate, remember that doing your best and living the scout oath and scout law are what makes each of us really a Scout.

Pack Meeting 12/20 canceled + plans for 2021

Posted on Dec 17 2020 - 4:41pm

Hi everyone,
Unfortunately due to circumstances beyond our control, the Pack meeting we had planned for this Sunday has to be canceled.

The good news... for everyone who has registered for 2021, we will be sending out boxes in January with supplies for upcoming activities.   These will include Pinewood Derby cars, our event will likely be in February this year, and will be different - it'll be virtual (live-streamed) and we're still working out the details, but the pinewood derby is such a fun part of our program we're doing our best to make it happen.  We are also planning to include supplies for rank-specific adventures, which we will be doing in the first quarter of 2021, the format of this is still being developed, so stay tuned; but rest assured the program will cover all ranks with the intention of working towards earning rank until we can meet outdoors again this spring.
Please let us know if you have any questions.   If you haven't registered yet and intend to continue with the Pack next year, please email Steph to make arrangements.

Thanks and Happy Holidays to you all!
