On Monday May 19 is our annual Fishing Derby at the Culinarian's Home on Old Tschirky Rd. New Paltz. Practice time is from 5:30 pm until 5:45 pm with the derby starting at5:45 until 6:15. The scouts need to bring a fishing pole with a hook and if they want bobbers. No lures. It is catch and release event. After the derby the pack will provide hot dogs and juice. Weather permitting will do some advancements. We will need some parents to stay after and help clean up and leave it better then we arrived. Any questions feel free to contact me either phone 339-0238 or e-mail wat6272@gmail.com.
On June 14th, our Pack has been invited to assist Troop 20 in a flag retirement ceremony. This will be at the Kingston Elks Lodge on Hurley Ave. close to Mickey's Igloo, big white building and has BPOE on the front. We will start folding flags and setting up around 5, and the ceremony will be at 6. After the ceremony they will destroy the flags, and usually have hot dogs, and ice cream. Boys should be in Class A. Of course any sibling girl scouts I imagine are welcome too (in uniform). Let me know if you have questions or concerns and I'll do my best to find answers.
As you all know, there is a 'Duty to God' element in every rank. For anyone looking to take the Duty to God a step further (*This is not required!*), I'd encourage you to look into working with your scout on earning the Religious Award for your religion. This is a purple knot your scout can wear on their uniform for the rest of their scouting career; most religions also present the scout with a medal as well. Some religions offer multiple religious awards which can be earned at different stages in their religious education (for example, there are two religious awards Cubs can earn for the Catholic faith, one pre-communion one post).
