Carnival Homework

Hi Bears,

Probably the biggest project for our Bears this year is our Halloween Carnival. For the "Grin and Bear It" loop, our scouts need to create and run a carnival. In the past years, this has been done to coincide with our Halloween Party, and we're going to do the same this year. So, with 5 weeks to go, we wanted to get this ball rolling as it will require parental involvement for both the construction and running. This should be a fun activity for you and your scout to do together, it's not meant to be a tremendous challenge. In the coming weeks, each scout should design and create a game to run (maybe with posters too), determine the rules, and what it means to "win" the game. If supplies are needed, please let me know. I will be providing some candy for each station to give out as prizes.

Parent Youth Protection

'Tis the season for paperwork, right? Sadly, we have another piece of paperwork which everyone needs to complete. Please visit the following website, review the Parent's Guide to Youth Protection (a scaled-down/family-focused version of what all our leaders take annually) and then complete the exercises beginning on page 19 with your scouts:

Note: This is an annual requirement and required for *every* scout to get their rank, so if it seems familiar, that's why. Upon completion, please inform your den leaders so they can mark it so.

Den 2 will meet at black creek reserve (Black Creek Rd, Esopus, NY 12429) on 9/23 for our den meeting 6:30 pm (weather permitting) to do tiger adventure. Please wear proper footwear and appropriate attire for the weather.

The '19-'20 program year event calendar (https://www.pack103kingston.org/system/files/P103_Yearly_Calendar_201920...) and Family Guide (https://www.pack103kingston.org/system/files/FamilyGuide20192020.pdf) are now available on our webpage (and using these links). Please note, the version online will always be the most current and supersede any printed copies. They are accessible on the left-hand menu of the webpage.

We will be launching our program year with a Pack Meeting on 9/16 at GW School. Details will be provided when the date gets closer.

Den Leaders, please be sure to update scoutbook with any summertime advancement for your scouts (including summer camp), if not already done.
