May Campout

Posted on Mar 2 2018 - 11:36pm

Hi everyone,

This Monday at your den meetings we'll be voting for the weekend everyone prefers to Family camp in May. The choices are:  May 12-13 or 19-20.   We'll arrive Saturday afternoon at the KOA in Saugerties and leave after breakfast Sunday, regardless of the chosen weekend.  More details will be available after the weekend is selected.

No St. Patrick's Day Parade participation.

Posted on Mar 2 2018 - 1:57pm

Unfortunately, due to the unavailability of our normal float/trailer and having to decorate a new one from scratch within the week we've decided to cancel our participation in the St. Patrick's Day parade this year.

Blue and Gold timeline

Posted on Feb 23 2018 - 6:12pm

Hi everyone,

The blue and gold is rapidly approaching, and hopefully, everyone is excited.  The scouts have been working hard and it's time to celebrate their effort and recognize those who have reached the end of the Cub Scouting program and will be leaving us to bridge into Boy Scouts.  I'm beyond proud of all of them, and everything achieved so far this year.

With that said, a quick recap of the timetable.  The pack would like every family who attends to have a representative help with either setup or cleanup so the leaders won't have to do everything.

Setup will begin at 2:00 pm to help arrange cover and decorate the tables; setup chairs; and help with organizing food.   Please have your scouts bring their uniform so it doesn't get dirty during setup, they'll have time to change.

The event will begin as close to 3:30 as possible, if you're not planning to help setup, please try to be here around 3:15.   Please have your scouts wear as much of their uniform as possible, and worn properly (i.e. shirts tucked in).

Around 4:30 we will relocate from the Sanctuary to the main meeting room for the dinner to be followed by the auction.

Please try to stay until after the cake bake has concluded as this is a significant fundraiser for the pack which helps to allow families to join scouting or send scouts to camp who might not be able to afford it.  I expect this to wrap up around 7, if you were unable to help with setup, we'd appreciate help with cleanup - all the tables, chairs and food areas will need to be picked up.

A few other notes:

1) Please bring a checkbook for the auction, it will make our accounting much easier than cash.

2) Please bring an ingredient card for the cakes to prevent allergy concerns.  (Rules are posted on the webpage:  https://kingston103.mypack.us/node/5509 )

3) Please bring serving utensils (if needed) for your potluck dish, as the Pack may not have enough.

Please don't hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or concerns.  I hope to see you all this weekend!

Regards,
C.T.

Your Action may be Required!

Posted on Feb 8 2018 - 9:24pm

Hello Pack 103 families,

We've only heard from about 15 of 28 families, please ensure you RSVP for the Blue and Gold Banquet to Keisha by the end of the day **this Saturday 2/10**.  Starting Sunday we will begin purchasing supplies for the event, so an accurate headcount is essential.  New families of Pack 103 (those who have joined since Mid-January), you and your families are more than welcome to attend as well.   Please contact Keisha at pack103kingston@gmail.com or (845) 802-4829 to RSVP.

For the new families, the Blue and Gold banquet is our monthly Pack meeting for February.  It begins at 3:30pm on Saturday 2/24 at the church.  The event starts in the sanctuary with advancement/awards/recognition followed by wishing our 5th grade Webelos 2 scouts adieu as they leave the Cub Scout Pack and join a Boy Scout Troop.  This is followed by a pot-luck dinner (check with your den leaders for what type of food to bring) and a cake auction.  We ask each family bring a cake they have made with their Scout, to auction off as a fundraiser for the pack (rules are below), set to the theme of "Out of this World".  This is a unique, but fun annual event for the Pack which takes place in February to celebrate the Birthday of America's Scouting movement (which happens to have begun exactly 108 years ago today!).

Den leaders, please plan to have your dens present a skit, song, or similar during dinner.

Spring Trip balance due:  The balance for the spring trip is due at Monday's den meetings (2/12).  This trip is still open to new families to 103, as there are still a few spots available, please sign up and pay Monday if possible.  The trip is 3/24-25.   The final cost is $45/scout and $35/family member (less the deposit you paid last month to hold your spot).  It is an overnight at the DaVinci Science center in Allentown, Pa.  The overnight program will introduce scouts to a world where magic and science meet.  They will discover the link between science and magic as they experiment with troll boogers (glow in the dark slime), frozen dragon's breath (dry ice) and building castles to protect from invading dragons.  We are meeting there at 6pm, feel free to coordinate carpooling with other families as the Pack is not providing group transportation.  Sunday morning, the overnight program typically would end around 9, and you and your family would be granted admission to the museum for the remainder of the day.

Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

Thanks and best regards,
C.T.
